Nashville Acoustic Sessions

Nashville Acoustic Sessions

As vocalist for the Mavericks, Raul Malo’s powerful voice and the band’s success in mixing vintage material with originals arranged in “classic” styles helped revive eclecticism in Nashville. Here, he and a first-rate band of acoustic sidemen run through country, pop, and folk standards, most (not all) well-known. Mixing Bob Dylan (“You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go”) and Gordon Lightfoot (“Early Morning Rain”) with Jimmie Rodgers (“Waiting for a Train”) and the Louvin Brothers (“The Gre

Nashville Skyline

Nashville Skyline

While Dylan is one of the prime creators of “country rock,” Nashville Skyline is as close to a real country album as any he’s ever made. Unfortunately, Dylan’s decision to sing it in an un-nasal, un-Dylanesque style leaves one of rock’s greatest singers seriously handicapped, as if Ali had to box one-handed. As a result, this set can never be any better than its songs. When they’re throw-aways (“Country Pie”), even all the great Nashville pickers on board can’t help. But when they’re good (“I T

Nashville Sessions

Like a modern-day Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Leftover Salmon are here to bridge the gap between hippie rock and traditional country and bluegrass. So it may help to think of The Nashville Sessions as a poor man’s Will the Circle Be Unbroken, especially with Circle veterans Jeff Hanna and Randy Scruggs (who produced this record) along for the ride. Leftover invite bluegrass and newgrass heroes and jam-band buddies to contribute here, and the results are as mixed as the musical influences. Clearly, L

Waylon Jennings: Nashville Rebel Reviews

Waylon Jennings: Nashville Rebel

Studio: Sony Music Release Date: 10/24/2006Great singer, good songwriter, underrated guitar player: Nashville Rebel supplies ample evidence that Waylon Jennings (1937-2003) was one of country music’s best. Although the time frame (from 1970 to 1984) of this hour-long, 18-song collection is pretty narrow in the context of his entire career, it’s revealing. When Jennings sang “Only Daddy That’ll Walk the Line” on Johnny Cash’s TV show in ’70, he had already recorded at least ten albums (he’d also

Fearless – Taylor Swift (13 Hour M&G, Nashville)

Taylor Swift had a free 13 Hours Meet & Greet (that ended up being 15hrs long) and we got the chance to meet her!! She also had a free mini concert, there were easily 8000-10000 people there. It was amazing. She is incredibly nice and makes you feel like she’s your best friend and has known you for a long time. She took the time to hug everyone, she talked to all of her fans individually. To get a chance to meet her you had to win meet and greet passes by texting to a certain number every hour or sponsors around the venue would be giving them away as well. We won by texting. At the concert we were second-ish row, it was general admission. If you wanna know more about it just ask us questions on the comments and will answer as soon as we get a chance :)

Nashville Rising- Sandra Bullock (FULL!)

Nashville Rising concert on June 22 benefiting those who were affected by the devastating Nashville flood in May. Sandra Bullock made a surprise appearance at the concert. Needless to say, the arena went crazy when she came out. She did a funny bit before introducing Faith Hill. If you can’t understand what she said, here it is: “So listen! They say the community is only as strong as it’s weakest link, right? Well from the looks of it, there are no weak links in this community because you guys have held so strong and taken care of each other and taught this country a really great lesson. And when Tim and Faith asked me to come here tonight to do something I was like ‘Sure I’ll come in and do a couple of funny bits’, you know..a little wardrobe malfunction..something interesting to contribute. But when they told me how much you contributed to this town- the amount of money you brought in to take care of each other, I realized I had to contribute a lot more than just trying to be funny. So what I’m gonna do tonight is what all of these other amazing musicians have done. I’m gonna contribute some music and I’m gonna bring the house down. And I’m gonna do it Nashville style! Ready? Can I have some quiet please? 5, 6, 7, 8…..9, 10. *plays guitar* Who am I kidding? I can’t play for crap. But ladies and gentleman, I would like to introduce an amazing woman, an extraordinarily talented woman, a disgustingly beautiful woman, the woman that is one half of who made tonight
